Technology Transfer
The Programme is a platform for strengthening connections between the participating countries of Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Türkiye, Ukraine and, creating new cooperations in the fields of research, innovation and environmental protection, bringing together regional actors to contribute to sustainable resource management for the benefit of local citizens. The Programme aims to develop and deepen cross-border cooperation in the Black Sea Basin on a transnational basis.
Within the 2021-2027 period of the program, the project titled “T3N-BSB Transnational Technology Transfer Network for Black Sea Basin” has been entitled to receive support and started to be implemented as of July 2024, under the leadership of the Karadeniz Technical University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center (KTU TTC) representing KTU; with the partnership of the “Centre for Research and Technology Hellas” (CERTH) from Greece, the “Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation” (BATTI) from Bulgaria and the “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati (UDJG) from Romania. With the project with a budget of 498.120,00 EUR, it aims to address the need to develop sustainable transnational network structures and platforms in order to share good practices and knowledge on the use of innovative technological developments.
Karadeniz Technical University (KTU):
Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) is a state university founded in Trabzon in 1955. As one of the leading technical universities in Türkiye, KTU provides education in many fields such as engineering, architecture, science and social sciences. Today, KTU has 12 faculties, 1 college, 8 vocational schools; 78 undergraduate and 34 associate degree programs; 80 graduate and 57 doctoral programs in 6 institutes. It attracts attention with its modern campus, research opportunities and strong academic staff. In addition, the university contributes to science and technology with various projects at local and national levels. It is considered an important education center in the Black Sea Region.
Karadeniz Technical University Technology Transfer Center (KTU-TTC) supports the development of innovative projects by transferring the scientific and technological knowledge of the university to the industry and was established as an official center in 2012 by the Senate decision in the KTU infrastructure. The center, which provides consultancy services for researchers and entrepreneurs, helps with collaborations, patenting processes and project development. In this way, it is aimed to transform the knowledge and technologies obtained from academic studies into commercial potential. It also supports the local and national economy by contributing to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Center for Research & Technology, Hellas (CERTH):
The Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas was established in March 2000 and is a legal entity governed by private law with non-profit status, supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) of the Greek Ministry of Development. CERTH is becoming one of the most important Research Centers in Greece and its main mission is: To promote innovative research for the benefit of society. Dedicated to this purpose, CERTH is an important organization at the forefront of fundamental, applied and technological research to provide solutions to society’s modern challenges.

Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation (BATTI) :
The Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation is a non-governmental organization with its main office in Varna and branches in Sofia, Ruse, Burgas, Blagoevgrad and Vidin. BATTI’s experts have many years of experience in implementing and managing projects covering a wide range of activities related to innovation, technology and digitalization. BATTI connects the public and private sector to increase knowledge transfer and capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises, promote innovative practices and technologies to businesses, provide professional and structured services that stimulate the development of local economic business sectors, entrepreneurship initiatives, cluster initiatives, lifelong learning, youth activities, social entrepreneurship, support to people with disabilities and international cooperation through the transfer of innovation and good practices.

Universitatea “Dunărea de Jos” in Galați (UDJG):
The “Lower Dunărea de Jos” University in Galați is a public higher education institution founded in 1974. The “Lower Danube” University in Galați has 14 faculties and prepares students for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies in various fields (technics, humanities, economics, health, arts). The university assumes the role of a cultural and civic center and aims to contribute to the formation and dissemination of cultural values, the promotion of electoral pluralism and the development of political and civic culture.

Primary objective
The overall objective of the project, which will last 18 months in total, is to establish sustainable transnational network structures among the Black Sea Basin countries of Türkiye, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece, and to contribute to the development of their research and innovation capacities and the adoption of advanced technologies by sharing good practices and know-how on the use of innovative technological developments, specifically in the fields of blue economy, low carbon economy, climate change resilience and adaptation.

Outputs aim to increase technology use, networking and cooperation in the Black Sea Basin region. The project results will strengthen cooperation between organizations, ensure joint research and encourage innovative solutions on international platforms. In addition, events will be organized to encourage knowledge and experience sharing among regional stakeholders.

• To lead the planning and development of new research and innovation projects and studies in the Black Sea Basin countries, to improve their competitiveness and innovation levels in the international arena.
